1-Day Workshop | Drawing: Memento Mori

*Price includes a $30 Studio Fee for all materials provided.

Class Description:

This 1-day workshop highlights Drawing with specific focus on use of color pencil. Memento Mori translates to "remember death" and is an art practice used to remind us to live our lives to the fullest. The Denver Art Museum contains examples of how artists have used Memento Mori throughout history. We will look at these examples and then use inspiration from history to create our own memento mori artworks with symbols such as skulls, flowers, insects, and representations of time.

What to Expect:

We will look at historical examples of memento mori in the museum and learn about its importance in history, pop culture, and life. We will then create our own memento mori compositions and drawings in the studio. I will provide plenty of inspiration to draw from as well as assistance. No prior art history or drawing skills required.
