1-Day Workshop | Drawing: Memento Mori

*Price includes a $30 Studio Fee for all materials provided.

Class Description:

This 1-day workshop highlights Drawing with specific focus on use of color pencil. Memento Mori translates to "remember death" and is an art practice used to remind us to live our lives to the fullest. The Denver Art Museum contains examples of how artists have used Memento Mori throughout history. We will look at these examples and then use inspiration from history to create our own memento mori artworks with symbols such as skulls, flowers, insects, and representations of time.

What to Expect:

We will look at historical examples of memento mori in the museum and learn about its importance in history, pop culture, and life. We will then create our own memento mori compositions and drawings in the studio. I will provide plenty of inspiration to draw from as well as assistance. No prior art history or drawing skills required.

Class Cancellation Policy:

If a class or workshop needs to be cancelled due to inclement weather or teacher illness, a “make-up” day will be scheduled on a SATURDAY as the educator’s schedule allows.

All materials will be provided by the teacher and are included in the price for this workshop.
