Summer Camps

August 7-11 | Mixed Media Mayhem (ages 5-6)

Experiment with all kinds of media, from paint to paper to fabric and more! Play with materials and ideas like a true artist and take home art inspired by the many genres and materials seen in the museum’s diverse collections.

August 7-11 | Sculpt This, Sculpt That (ages 7-8)

From clay vessels to abstract sculptures, we have it all in the museum! We’ll take what we see in the gallery and apply it to our art in the workshop. At the end of the week, you’ll have all kinds of sculptures to share with family and friends!

August 7-11 | The ABCs of Art (ages 5-6)

In this class for our youngest museum friends, we’ll explore all the basics of art! We’ll learn all about textures, shapes, lines, and more through games, stories, and of course art projects!

July 10-14 | Miniatures at the Museum | ages 9-11

We’re scaling down the artwork but not the fun! This week we’ll put on our artistic engineering hats and learn how to make miniature versions of artworks and artwork-inspired objects.

July 10-14 | Myths & Legends in Art | ages 7-8

Once, long ago...This week we’ll read mythological stories and use them to explore the museum galleries. We’ll create beautiful works of art using various mediums, materials and, of course, our imaginations!

July 10-14 | Where the Wild Things Are | ages 5-6

Lions, tigers, and bears, oh my! This week, get to know the animals in the DAM’s collection, then make art inspired by our furry friends back in the workshop. Be sure to have your safari hats and binoculars ready for this adventure!

July 17-21 | Myths and Legends in Art | ages 5-6

Once, long ago...This week we’ll read some stories and use them as inspiration to explore the museum galleries. We’ll create beautiful works of art using various mediums, materials and, of course, our imaginations!

July 17-21 | Storytelling in Art | ages 9-11

Every artwork holds a story. This week campers will practice their own skills as storytellers and visual artists as they take a deeper look at both of these art forms.

Learn how to think like a designer and practice skills like observation, brainstorming, prototyping, and testing. Get inspired in the galleries, put on your designer hat (and your artist one!), and create wonderfully unique artwork.

From materials to inspiration, nature shows up in art in all kinds of ways. This week, we’ll think about the connection between art and the environment as we explore the galleries. By the end of the week, you’ll be able to take home some earth-inspired artwork of your own!

June 12-16 | Art Improv | ages 9-11

This week, campers will “yes and…” their way to creativity! Get ready to approach artmaking in new ways. This camp will treat the studio like a lab for artistic experimentation.

June 12-16 | Sketch, Doodle, Draw | ages 7-8

Take a deeper dive into this artist tool and fill your sketchbook with various drawing and sketching techniques. Campers will explore the museum collections and see where their doodles take them!

June 20-23 | Around the World in Art | ages 5-6

NOTE: THIS WILL BE A 4-DAY WEEK IN OBSERVANCE OF THE JUNETEENTH HOLIDAY

This week, we’ll travel around the world without even leaving the museum. We’ll learn about all different kinds of places through artwork and let them inspire us back in the workshop!

June 20-23 | Color Pop! | ages 7-8

NOTE: THIS WILL BE A 4-DAY WEEK IN OBSERVANCE OF THE JUNETEENTH HOLIDAY

Color surrounds us, but we don’t always notice its effect on our world. This week, we will slow down and think about how artists use color to express feelings and ideas. Explore the galleries, get creative in the studio, and fall down the rainbow rabbit hole!
