There are many book structures that can be made by folding and cutting a piece of regular printer paper. This class will introduce you to one page book structures. Each student will choose a structure and spend the rest of the sessions developing original content for their books by visiting the museum to search for inspiration. Students will write text, create collages, drawings, rubbings, etc., to fill the pages of their books. At the end of the class, photocopies will be made of each book, so that everyone leaves with a full set of each other’s books.

What to Expect: Students do not need to have any prior technical knowledge to take and enjoy this class. These one-page book structures are perfect for beginners, and advanced students! We will spend our time learning the book structures, looking at examples of artist books, visiting the galleries and creatively creating content for our books. Each student will make one book, and then photocopies will be made, so that each student has a full set of everyone’s books.

Educator: Sasha de Koninck,

Sasha de Koninck is an artist and PhD candidate in the Intermedia, Art, Writing, and Performance program at the University of Colorado Boulder. Her work is a presentation of a multisensory experience, through the research and development of smart textile material for the body that is intimate, sensitive, and loud. Clothing reveals the details and subtleties of our personalities and life that can't always be explained in words. As material, the textile in a garment is something that is the closest thing to our skin, our shield, and security.
