Be an architect in training and explore how superstar architects Daniel Libeskind and Gio Ponti design buildings for art using angles and patterns. Pull ideas from great downtown architecture and get inspired to design your own buildings.

July 13-17 | Color Pop! (ages 5–6)

Color surrounds us, but we don’t always notice its effect on the world around us. This week, we will slow down and think about how artists use color to express feelings and ideas. Explore the galleries, get creative in the workshop, and fall down the rainbow rabbit hole!

July 13-17 | Sculpt This, Sculpt That (ages 7-8)

From clay vessels to abstract sculptures, we have it all in the museum! We’ll take what we see in the gallery and apply it to our art in the workshop. At the end of the week, you’ll have all kinds of sculptures to share with family and friends!

July 13-17 | Story in Focus (ages 12-14)

Use photography to tell a story your way. You’ll experiment with framing, sequencing, and point of view while looking at how artists use images to capture people, moments, and ideas. Inspired by What We’ve Been Up To: People and other works in the museum, you’ll create a photo series that builds a narrative across multiple images.

July 6-10 | Creature Creations (ages 5-6)

Lions, tigers, and bears, oh my! This week, get to know the animals in the DAM’s collection, then make art inspired by our furry friends back in the workshop. Be sure to have your safari hats and binoculars ready for this adventure!

July 6-10 | Fabrics and Fashion (ages 9-11)

From fashion to soft sculpture, there are all kinds of artwork to create with the versatile medium of fabric! This week, campers will take a closer look at this material, both in the galleries and as artists in the workshop.

July 6-10 | Mixed Media Mayhem (ages 9-11)

Experiment with all kinds of media, from paint to paper to fabric and more! Play with materials and ideas like a true artist and take home art inspired by the many genres and materials seen in the museum’s diverse collections.

July 6-10 | Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (ages 7-8)

Transform the everyday into the extraordinary! Explore how artists like El Anatsui turn recycled materials into stunning works of art, then head to the workshop to experiment with found objects and build your own bold, imaginative assemblage.

June 22-26 | Art Around the World (ages 5-6)

Pack your imagination and get your art passport ready! This week, we’ll explore artwork from cultures across the globe. Each stop on our journey inspires a new hands-on project back in the workshop, letting campers create their own world of art.

Member Morning: Knife Fork Spoon

Join us this summer for a special Member Morning on Saturday, June 27, from 9-10 am in the Martin Building featuring Knife Fork Spoon: Everyday Tools, Extraordinary Design.

Please note: Only level 2 of the Martin Building will be open early. This level includes the Architecture and Design Gallery, the Design Studio, and Northwest Coast and Alaska Native Arts Gallery. The full museum campus will open at 10 am.

Volunteer Acquisition Endowment

Donations to this fund are invested by the DAM foundation with the intention to grow the fund in value over time. This fund provides an annual distribution based on the Foundation's policy.  Distributed funds are used to acquire new artwork for the DAM.

The Museum regularly reconciles expenditures made from distributed funds to ensure that they are allocated as intended.
