This 1-day workshop will focus on sound as a healing force through cross-cultural perspectives. Students will learn about meditation and sound bathing with the use of various musical instruments. Breathing techniques and body movements for healing will also be explored. Students will investigate how sound can be used in everyday life to release stress and to calm the body and mind.

This 4-week class combines art history and experimentation to explore the emerging movement of Bio Art. Rooted in environmental concerns and science; Bio Art can range from working with natural materials to manipulating DNA. Students will be introduced to “Agar Art” which involves cultivating bacteria, work with foraged and harvested materials from nature, and will be encouraged to explore mediums through a conceptual and research-based lens. Students will discover new ways to look at art and will study Bio Artworks represented in the Denver Art Museum’s collection by artists Ernesto Neto, Karen Kitchel, and others.

Jungjin Lee embraces a meditative approach to photography and creates pictures that encourage reflection. Her poetic images, often made in nature among deserts, mountains, water, trees, and through a meticulous printing process, are expressions of her feelings and her relationship with the world around.

Jungjin Lee began making photographs while studying ceramics in Seoul, South Korea and went on to earn her MFA in photography at New York University. Throughout a nearly forty-year career, her work has been widely exhibited, collected, and has been the subject of many thoughtful photobooks. Jungjin Lee lives and works in New York City.

From materials to inspiration, nature shows up in art in all kinds of ways. This week, we’ll think about the connection between art and the environment as we explore the galleries. By the end of the week, you’ll be able to take home some nature-inspired artwork of your own!

This week, campers dive into the creative overlap of games, storytelling, and art. Inspired by historical artworks, they’ll invent characters, design worlds, and bring new ideas to life through hands-on projects.

Experiment with all kinds of media, from paint to paper to fabric and more! Play with materials and ideas like a true artist and take–home art inspired by the many genres and materials seen in the museum’s diverse collections.

In this camp for our youngest museum friends, we’ll explore the basics of art! We’ll learn all about textures, shapes, lines, and more through games, stories, and of course art projects!

From clay vessels to abstract sculptures, we have it all in the museum! We’ll take what we see in the gallery and apply it to our art in the workshop. At the end of the week, you’ll have all kinds of sculptures to share with family and friends!

Fashion is more than trends, it’s expression. In this hands-on studio workshop, you’ll experiment with textiles, construction, and surface design while exploring how clothing can communicate identity, culture, and ideas. Inspired by the museum’s collection and the upcoming exhibition DIVA, you’ll design and remake wearable or fiber-based works that reflect your perspective.

Join us this summer for a special Member Morning on Saturday, July 25, from 9-10 am in the Hamilton Building featuring The Stars We Do Not See: Australian Indigenous Art.

Please note: Only the Martin & McCormick Gallery and the Gallagher Gallery on levels 1 and 2 of the Hamilton Building will be open early. The full museum campus will open at 10 am.

Museum Friends are invited to a private reception in the Garden Room with artist Jungjin Lee.

Join us immediately following the Anderman Photography Lecture: Conversation with Jungjin Lee, which begins at 6:00 PM. This exclusive event offers a unique opportunity to connect with the artist in a more personal setting, and we hope to see you there.

Donations to this fund are invested by the DAM foundation with the intention to grow the fund in value over time. This fund provides an annual distribution based on the Foundation's policy.  Distributed funds are used to acquire new artwork for the DAM.

The Museum regularly reconciles expenditures made from distributed funds to ensure that they are allocated as intended.
