Degas: A Passion for Perfection

Degas: A Passion for Perfection will showcase prolific French artist Edgar Degas' works from 1855 to 1906. More than 100 works consisting of paintings, drawings, pastels, etchings, monotypes, and sculptures in bronze will be on view. The exhibition will focus on the most prominent and recurring themes throughout Degas' 60-year career. These include his interest in learning from the art of the past and from that of his contemporaries, a lifelong fascination with the nude, a passion for horses, and his strong interest in opera and dance.

Degas: An Artistic Journey

Delve into the world of Edgar Degas in this four-part course that will explore the influences, evolution and independence of the iconic artist. Participants will learn about his complex approach to contemporary themes, his masterful experimentation across mediums and techniques, and the strong dualities of his personality and style of working.

Only DAM members enjoy special docent-led tours of this exhibition. 

Space is limited and advance reservations are recommended ($3 in addition to exhibition ticket). Ticket includes general admission and admission to Degas: A Passion for Perfection.

Stampede Tour with John Lukavic and Denene De Quintal - Friends of Native Arts

Join Curator John P. Lukavic and Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Curatorial Fellow Denene DeQuintal on a tour of Stampede: Animals in Art, which features many works from the Native Arts department, including works from the American Indian, African, and Oceanic collections.

Two Masters of Intangible Cultural Heritage

Intangible Cultural Heritage is defined as traditions or living expression inherited from our ancestors and passed on to our descendants.  It includes practices, representations, expressions, knowledge and skills that communities, groups and individuals recognize as part of their cultural heritage. Tao Wang and Tianming Wang are recognized as Masters of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Shandong, China; Tao Wang in the  family business  of papercutting, and Tianming Wang in the carving of extraordinary tiny versions of everyday things.  The two Masters will share their knowledge and works in this Asian Art Association sponsored program.

Following Uncorked Reserve (the museum s annual fundraising event), Uncorked AFTERGLO is the museum's annual party celebrating creativity. AFTERGLO attracts the next generation of stylish philanthropists for a night of art, dancing, and celebrating, while raising crucial support for the Denver Art Museum.

Tickets: $70 for Denver Art Museum members / $80 for nonmembers
Limited number of tickets available.
Access included for Uncorked Reserve guests.

Note that all Uncorked AFTERGLO tickets will be an additional $10 if purchased at the doors to the event. Tickets will be available for purchase online until 12pm on Friday, April 13. AFTERGLO tickets are nonrefundable.
